3 Things You Must Do, Even If You’re Not Looking

  • On May 1, 2016

Even if you’re not actively looking for a new job, here are three things all savvy lawyers do:

  1. Know what’s going on in the marketplace. To prevent yourself from going stale, know what skills are hot now and have a sense of upcoming trends. Also, understand how much similar jobs pay to get paid your worth and to justify your value come raise/promotion time.
  2. Have an updated resume. I am always shocked when I talk to a great candidate who is interested in a job I present but does not have a resume ready. In those few days that a person takes to update his/her resume, I have seen opportunities go instead to someone else who was more ready.
  3. Keep up your network. You never know when you will need help with your career.
