How to Manage Multiple Offers

  • On February 5, 2017

I’ve noticed star lawyers who interview in parallel can receive multiple offers. Savvy lawyers manage the process so they get all the offers on the table before having to decide.

  1. To slow down the process, ask complex questions, ideally ones that would take some research, e.g., about outstanding equity, how the formula works, or about the benefits plan.
  2. Another way to slow down the process is to ask for a lunch or other face-to-face meeting to get to know the legal team (or business partners) better.
  3. To speed things up, tell employers you have an exploding offer.
