Why You Need a Picture for Your LinkedIn Profile

Lawyers are happy to list their schools and employers on LinkedIn, but not their photos. Maybe they want to guard their privacy or avoid discrimination, but here’s why posting a picture is essential:

1. Profiles with photos generate 14x more views than profiles without (reported by LinkedIn)!
2. Pictures help people remember you. I hate looking at photo-less profiles of people with common names and having to guess whether I met them before.
3. Pictures show that you are approachable and attractive. Between similar profiles, who do you think gets contacted, the one with the picture or the one without?
4. Pictureless profiles look incomplete. Without a picture, you appear technically un-savvy, which is a very bad trait in Silicon Valley.
