What 5 Skills Does Your Manager Want From You?

  • On November 7, 2017

I was lucky enough to get the thoughts of senior legal attorneys on how they staff their A team. They appreciate employees who:

  1. Solve problems proactively. Think ahead about future problems, and go to your manager with solutions.
  2. Have your manager’s back. When managers take positions, they appreciate when you publicly explain their rationale to clients.
  3. Grow with the company. Build a track record of flexibility and resilience. Respond to guidance.
  4. Influence others. Successful attorneys collaborate with different team and are respected by their peer group.
  5. Understand the business.
