How to ask for an introduction

  • On November 16, 2025

I get asked to make intros all the time. I love tech exec and public Board member Joe Hurd‘s repost on how to ask for one. Key things:

  1. Everyone must benefit from the intro, from the person asking for the intro, the introducer, and the person being introduced. The intro will only move forward if everyone opts in, so don’t ask if you can’t articulate why it makes sense for all parties.
  2. Make your ask for the intro short, clear, and forwardable by email. Include LinkedIn links.
  3. If you get the intro, respond immediately, bcc the connector, and make it easy to talk.
