How Intense Startups Can Interview Dec. 17, 2017

I found this article on how Tesla used to hire interesting.  I’ve seen private companies that are hot and growing put people through a similar process:

  1. First round is a phone screen with HR to get a sense of background, skills and trajectory. HR will talk to about 5 candidates (sometimes more).
  2. Second round is with the hiring manager asking about skills and assessing fit.
  3. On-site interview is with multiple interviewers. Engineers would be given tests, but lawyers are likely asked real-life hypos.
  4. Final round can be with the CEO/founder, who would have all prior assessments of the candidate.
